Paul Murtagh, Chairman and CEO

Paul Murtagh graduated from University College Dublin BComm (& German) with first class honors in 1995.  Following graduation Paul worked at Merrill Lynch & Co. Investment Banking in New York and Sydney over a five year period focusing on Corporate Finance, Leveraged Buyouts and Mergers & Acquisitions.  He is a Director of Carraig Capital Limited which is part of a private family office.  In addition to serving as Bioptics Inc’s Chairman & CEO, Paul is a Chairman of Deerland Enzymes, Inc. and Chairman of Hempel Hotels Limited. 


Donogh O’Driscoll, (BBS/ACA), Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operating Officer

Donogh O’Driscoll graduated from the University of Limerick with a BBS, Bachelor of Business Studies with a major in Accounting and Finance.  Following this, Mr. O’Driscoll joined KPMG and assisted a wide variety of corporate clients across numerous industries in delivering high-quality audit services focused on accounting policies, internal controls, and financial reporting issues under IFRS and GAAP frameworks.  In addition, Mr. O’Driscoll has extensive experience of working in highly regulated environments such as those of Sarbanes & Oxley and FDA regulation. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ireland and joined the management team in 2008.  Mr. O’Driscoll is responsible for all financial reporting and operational functions at Faxitron Bioptics LLC.


Akif Baysal, Vice President of Research and Development

Akif Baysal has a Ph.D. in Physics from Temple University in Philadelphia. Before coming to the US for his graduate studies, he earned double major BS degrees in EE and Physics from Bosphorus University in Istanbul Turkey. His past experiences have mainly focused on scientific research and biomedical applications, covering inter-mixture of science and engineering disciplines. Since 2001, he led and helped Bioptics R&D team to develop CMOS based x-ray imaging systems for biomedical applications. He is a member of APS and SPIE.


Doug C. Wiegman, Vice President Engineering

Doug Wiegman began his career as a design engineer with Advanced Instrument Development where he was granted several patents. Later he worked for Critikon, a Johnson & Johnson company, where he was involved with patient monitoring equipment. In 1981 he was recruited by Squibb’s Vita Stat to develop blood pressure monitoring systems. Doug was one of the original founders of Faxitron X-Ray Corporation and has more than 25 years experience in medical systems and, specifically, x-ray technology. He is a graduate of Christian Brothers University, Memphis, TN where he earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering.


Brad Jackson, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development

Brad Jackson brought more than 13 year’s sales and marketing experience in the scientific instruments industry when he joined Faxitron in 2007. His prior experience includes several senior marketing management positions at Varian, Inc. His last role at Varian was Global Field Marketing Manager, in which he directed a geographically diverse team in developing and executing strategic marketing programs for the company’s various business units. Brad holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the College of Charleston and earned a Master’s in Analytical Chemistry from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
